Hey y’all!

It’s Mary Ann here from “Mary in the Middle”.  I started this blog first and foremost to share real moments about real life.  I live just outside of Nashville and married a musician (and now real estate agent) 21 years ago.  We moved to Nashville to chase a dream just after we got married and have never looked back.  We have two children, Philip (15) and Ella Jane (10) and I work full time as a nurse practitioner.  Between the music business, real estate business, baseball schedules, elementary and high school schedules, we have basically thrown balance out the window and refer to this life as controlled chaos.

But, throughout the twists and turns there seems to be a common theme for me…the middle.  Middle child, mid-level provider, middle class and middle Tennessee.  It’s as if somehow I’m destined to be “in the middle”.  So, as I approach middle age, I’ve been thinking about all the things the middle has taught me.  I’ve found that the in-between is what makes life interesting, teaches the hard lessons but, at the same time, provides great joy.  We middle-grounders have the opportunity to see things from both sides and feel the squeeze from above and below.

My hope with this blog is to share real moments about my journey.  The ups, the downs, the funny moments and all those moments, well, in the middle.  Lessons learned and lessons I’m still learning .  And, as you read, you will hopefully see that our struggles are really more the same than different and no matter where you find yourself, there is always room with me – in the middle.  Happy reading!!!
